DSA's (Driving Standards Agency) Website.
In future you may be able to book and pay for your test from this site.
The Driving Standards Agency is responsible for conducting driving tests in Great Britain for cars, motorcycles, lorries and buses.
DSA also maintains a register of car driving instructors and checks their standard of tuition, supervises Compulsory Basic Training for motorcyclists and sets and maintains theory test standards.

DVLA's (Driver Vehicle licensing Authority) site
The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency is an Executive Agency of the Department of Transport, Environment and the Regions.
Their primary aims are to aid general law enforcement by maintaining registers of drivers and vehicles, collect taxation and assist the road safety objectives of the Department.
The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM)
The IAM is a wholly independent, non profit-making organisation with the aims of improving driving standards, promoting road safety and providing an Advanced Driving Test.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, Advanced Drivers Association (RoADA)
RoADA's objective is the reduction of road accidents by encouraging interest in road safety, by improving driving standards, knowledge and skill and by enabling members to pass the RoADA's Advanced Driving Test.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, Driver Services (RoSPA
The Department works to ensure that accurate and appropriate information, education, training and publicity resources and services are available to all road users and to road safety professionals.
VIA's site (Vehicle Inspectorate)
The Vehicle Inspectorate (VI) is an Agency within the Department of Environment, Transport and the Regions.
VI’s work has a vital part to play in improving road safety and environmental standards. Its main task, carried out in co-operation with other enforcement agencies such as the police and local authority trading standards officers, is to ensure that goods vehicles, buses, coaches, cars and motorbikes are maintained to minimum standards laid down by law.
Highways Agency
The Highways Agency is an executive agency of the Department of Environment, Transport and the Regions. The Secretary of State is responsible for overall Government policy on motorways and trunk roads in England and determining the strategic framework and the financial resources within which it operates.
The Secretary of State's strategic aim for the Highways Agency is "To contribute to sustainable development by maintaining, operating and improving the trunk road network in support of the Government's integrated transport and land use planning policies."
DVTA (Driver Vehicle Test Agency)
The Driver & Vehicle Testing Agency (DVTA) examines drivers and vehicles to ensure that they have reached a certain standard, and plays an important part in Northern Ireland in the Government's overall efforts to improve road safety.
The Agency's specific tasks are to:-
examine vehicles to ensure they are road-worthy
conduct learner and vocational driving tests
approve registration of new driving instructors and monitor their tuition standards
DETR (Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions)
Their aims are quoted as being "to improve the quality of life by promoting sustainable development at home and abroad, fostering economic prosperity and supporting local democracy."
VCA
VCA, the Vehicle Certification Agency, is the United Kingdom's national approval authority for new road vehicles, agricultural  tractors and off road vehicles. As an executive Agency of the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions (DETR), they are closely linked with the UK Government and European policy formulation and enforcement of vehicle safety and environmental standards.
They provide international test and certification services for vehicles and vehicle parts. Approval certificates that are recognised throughout the European Community.
