Email Notification
Using the email notification system will inform you when a new show is up on line, giving you a chance to come to the website and listen to it here. To achieve entry on to the mailing list is a two stage process.

The First Stage
To put yourself on the mailing list go to the left edge of this page and look for the heading "Email Notification". Enter you email address in the box and then click the "Do it Now!" button.

The Second Stage
The system will automatically send you an email. At the bottom of that email is a link that you MUST click before you are fully entered onto the email list. This is done to prevent people from adding others who may not want to be emailed about DIPOD.

Juice Podcatcher
A "Podcatcher" is a software program that sits on your PC and wakes up periodically and checks to see if there is a new podcast available. One such program is called "Juice". You can download the program "Juice" from the links below here. This program will then automatically download the podcast for you so you can listen to it any time.

Mobile Phone
These days there are a large variety of "smart phones" that have the ability to fulfill many functions, and they may all differ to some degree. All of this type of phone have the fuctionality, but I only have experience with the Android family of smart phone. You will have to make sure you have a suitable "app" on your phone that can download podcasts. The one I use is called "Listen" which is produced by Google and "syncs" with thier Google Reader. So if I add a new podcast on my PC it automatically adds itself to my phone. See lower down how to set up an account with Google Reader if you wish to use the same system. Other "podcatchers" are available for your phone, and for those you will just need to add our podcast using the RSS link that you find on this page and at the bottom of the left border of everypage on this site!

Once you have that set up, make sure that your phone is connected to your Wi Fi for downloading podcast. Whilst phones these days will connect to the internet over the phones connection, you will get a faster download from Wi Fi, and there won't be such a limit on the amount of data you can download.

Itunes
We are on the Itunes system as well. If you do a search for Dipod in the Itunes program you should find us easily. Chances are if you are using this system with your Ipod then you are familiar with it's operation. But you can set it up so that when you start Itunes it will check to see if there is a new podcast available, and if there is to automatically download it. The the system will automatically upload it to your Ipod when you connect it.

There are options available that will delete the podcast after you have listened to it if you wish!

Other Podcatcher
There are any number of podcathing devices out there. You may also find them within music playing programs you already have. For instance WinAmp, plus many other pieces of podcatching software. With any of these additional devices you will need to tell the program where the rss feed is coming from.

For DIPOD, our RSS feed is http://www.mevio.com/feeds/dipod.xml

Google Reader
Google Reader is an on line facility that Google provides for free. This is particularly good if you are trying to keep an eye on a number of podcasts, but don't want to download and use a traditional Podcatcher. The only problem is that you need to keep an eye on your Google account to see if a new podcast has arrived. (Unless you are subscribed to our email notification system).

To use Google Reader you will have to register yourself with a Google account if you don't already have one. Then you need to go to the "Add Podcast" link and put in our RSS link, which is http://www.mevio.com/feeds/dipod.xml

You should then find that when you click on our podcast title, you can see all the previous shows that are available. Clicking on one of the shows should reveal an online player in your browser from which you can listen to the show.

Download the mp3
If you download the mp3 file, you can then transfer the file to another device and listen to the show on the move.

To do this go to the show page and right click with your mouse on the "Download" link. From the menu that appears, select "Save File As..." (if your using Internet Explorer) or "Save Link As..." (if your using Firefox). After clicking this link you will be able to choose where to save the file to. Make sure you remember where it is, and then after it has downloaded you can transfer it to your mobile device, or just listen to it on your PC.

Burning To a CD
To burn the file to a CD so that you can play the show on a normal CD player, you will need to download the mp3 as described in the section above entitled "Download the mp3"

Then open windows media player (other programs such as Winamp will do this also).

Go to the "Burn CD" link. Down the right hand side of the player is a column that takes files ready for burning. Now start Windows Explorer, this can be quickly done by holding down the Windows key and hitting the "E" button on your keyboard.

With Windows Explorer kept at part size, so it doesn't fill the whole screen and leaving Windows Media Player full size below, making sure you can see the right hand column in the player. Navigate to where the mp3 file is in Windows Explorer. You should be able to click (holding down the click) and drag the mp3 file into the right hand column of the media player.

After you have put a blank disk in the CD drive you can tell the media player to burn the disk. And hay presto you have a CD you listen to in the car!!
